I graduated from Atlanta School of Massage in 1990 and began part time practice. During the first several years after graduation, I spent many weekends taking advanced training in bodywork and massage. I became certified in Neuromuscular therapy, Pregnancy massage, and TMJ therapy. Other advanced techniques I provide are craniosacral therapy (level 1 & 2), trigger point therapy, and myofascial release.
In 2005, I received an Applied Associate's Degree from Ohio College of Massotherapy in Massaotherapy. In 2013, I graduated from Kennesaw State University with a bachelor degree of Science in Sociology with a concentration in Medical Sociology.
I am currently licensed by the Georgia Board of Massage Therapy #MT000001. In addition, I'm Board Certified through the National Certification Board of Massage Therapy and Bodywork.
A professional member of the American Massage Therapy Association for 30 years, I currently serve on the National Board as Director. Previously, I have served on the Board of the Georgia Chapter in various roles.
After the massage therapy bill passed in 2005, I was appointed to the Georgia Board Georgia Board of Massage Therapy and served as First Chair for 7 years and then as Board Member for an additional 2 years. In addition, I was elected to the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards National Board and appointed to the Model Massage Practice Act Task Force.
My practice has evolved over the years focussing on pain relief and stress reduction using a variety of massage and bodywork techniques especially craniosacral therapy and lymphatic drainage. I look forward to taking Barefoot Massage/Sarga in the future.
I recently closed my office at the end of 2020 and can make referrals upon request. At the moment, I'm spending time focusing on my volunteer role and taking continuing education classes as I wait to see what is next on my journey!
I enjoy my time with my family and friends, learning, tracing genealogy, quilting, traveling and bible studies. My family enjoys deep sea fishing and watching movies together. My husband, Dr. Douglas Johnson and I have one adult son, Wade.
Stay safe!
